In 2017, I changed my diet overnight and adopted a whole food plant-based diet after having attended a screening of a health and nutrition documentary called What The Health, which included a discussion with a panel of health professionals, including two doctors who are now on the Doctors For Nutrition Advisory Council.
At the time, the movie sparked my interest as I had been dealing with chronic pain for about 8 years, and as the pain was getting worse and I was not finding anything that actually made a difference to the pain I was dealing with every day, I was desperately looking for different solutions. The facts and research evidence that were presented in the documentary seemed to overwhelmingly demonstrate the negative and widespread impact of typical diets in the Western world on people’s health, and the transformative benefits of a whole food plant-based diet. It was so compelling that I decided to fully change my diet that day.
I joined Doctors For Nutrition as the first CEO in 2019. The work that we do has an enormous impact and positively affects the lives of Australians. Working with Doctors For Nutrition, I get to contribute to something that really matters, for the health and wellbeing of our community.
